I have a friend with a few hundred, but they are small sites that he never fully developed. He only got them in a phase. Most of them he doesn't bother to register the following year. 1000 domaisn is crazy though.

It's fairly common to see that many or more from a domain portfolio, the people you see on namepros.com or other sites like that are small time.....they literally use word generators...watch the traffic for 4 days...and cancel it if it doesnt look promising.

Even 100 seems like a lot to me, but then I'm new at this and just learning hehe. What does one do with a domain portfolio? Is there a purpose behind something like that or is it just for the sake of amassing a bunch together... Do you sell them as a group deal?

The problem I see with mass domain registrations is that you can't get an idea how google adsense will do, or where it will rank with search engines in the first 4 days. It's all just for the accidential traffic.
