Does anyone here have over 1000 domains?
I read somewhere else the other day about someone with 2500 domains.
Thats crazy!

at $8 per domain thats 20k per year.
Obviously that person is making some serious money online.

Well if I remember correctly, several years ago, a man (or corporation), registered all of the family names that they could find on databases. I believe that their motives was for family names to be easily accessible (through them) rather than buying them from giant companies.

If you had 2500, that would be about 200 a month up for renewal, if they were evenly spread out. That means a $1600 a month domain registration bill for starters.

Obviously with that many domains you are making some money, as at that level you do start to create some overhead.

However, let us say you went to monetize them. Pay another $1k a month for hosting, so you are looking at $2600 hard costs.

If each site made 1 cent a day in revenue, that would be $25.00 a day or $750.00 a month. So you would still be in a hole. If you could get each site to make 5 cents a day, you would be showing a profit over costs of $900.00 a month.

It is unlikely he is doing that, as he is probably buying and selling domains, but it is still interesting to think about.

Definately food for thought. I mean, if he has some good names, that could be really nice... And all he needs is 5 cents a day, per site? Of course, he's going to have some dead horses, but I'm sure the better ones would balance out. Very interesting!

And don't forget about buying bulk! Like getting a discount when buying alot!
