Default One of the most common domain scams

Right about the time you are due for renewal of your domain name, you will receive a notice (bill) from a different company that appears to be renewing your domain name, when in fact they are trying to steal you away from your current provider. Be careful not to renew using this bill until you check to be sure you know the name of your domain service provider, or you may find yourself with a new domain provider who does not provide the same level of service.

That's awful. I've learned the hard way about receiving tricky emails like those fake PayPal, Microsoft and EBay emails. I am always on the look out, especially when it has anything to do with money.

Ouch. I bet a lot of people get caught out by that one.

I use a lot of different companies, and have a hard time remembering who I registered each domain with. I really should move most of them to the 'best one' so that I'm not so confused!

Thankfully most of them are pretty good about reminding me frequently well in advance of the renewal coming due, so that prevents that kind of scam.
