If you want to pick a domain name, be sure you thoroughly explore the meaning of that name in other languages so you do not accidentally offend anyone or drive away possible customers.

I never thought about it like that, but that's real good advice to give for those contemplating on a name.

Yea, I have heard about that too. Some words in some languages mean different and sometimes very offensive when they are translated to a different language.

Auto makers can provide many such examples of names that seemed to be great choices in English and meant something very different in another language. You can use one of the online translation dictionaries to test your proposed domain name before you solidify that choice.

This is a little off topic, but in Canada a female politician had a domain that was identical except for the suffix to an adult site.

A brief search on the internet will reveal many such examples of poor name choice and lack of forethought. Unfortunately, we English speaking folks are often guilty of forgetting that the rest of the world does not speak and spell in the same language as we.

may some one have some examples regarding this ?
I think some languages may have the pronounciation of that word but it is difficult to have same word!

Good observation but it would be applicable if you are targeting whole world as your consumer group.

It might be right or wrong as well because there may be a long list of products in groups but i think it is a good approach if you have groups
