Now that is a big refund that Google had to pay out. I think the name is catchy. I wonder how strict the restrictions will be.

StarTribune.com, Google Inc., Yahoo Inc., Microsoft Corp., and Interactive Advertising Bureau are collaborating to curb “click fraud.” Click fraud occurs when merchants are billed for repeated clicks on their advertising web links that do not result in any actual sales. Click fraud generates commission fees for those hosting the web links without bringing any genuine business to the organizations using the web to advertise. This practice has made businesses skeptical about the efficacy of Internet advertising. The collaboration between the Internet search engines and advertising group is intended to create guidelines for defining and tracking click fraud in order to better regulate the practice. This new focus on click fraud was inspired in part by a recent class-action settlement in which Google refunded $60 million to advertisers based on click fraud related activities.
