Default McDonald’s Snatches a Pizza Domain Name

I think this is an interesting bit of information. I didn’t even know they sold pizza anywhere….

Quote:
The Register, July 28, 2006: McDonald’s was quick to register the <pizza.eu> domain name during the initial registration period when “.eu” registrations were open only to trademark owners. Swedish domain name sellers TBA Media lost a challenge to McDonald’s registration of the <pizza.eu> domain name based on McDonald’s Hungarian trademark of a logo in which the “m” of the McDonald’s “Golden Arches” was rotated onto its side to form the two “z”’s in the word “pizza.” Currently, McDonald’s only sells pizza in Italy, and the <pizza.eu> domain name does not resolve to any content.

Signaling that McDonald's has every intention of getting into pizza sales. These guys think ahead, unlike some larger businesses who find themselve sin the position of having to buy the domain name they want because they didn't get on the web bandwagon early enough

They don't sell beef in many countries because it is not a popular dish. McDonalds is shrewd enough to go with the regional stuff to get the business.

McDonald's sold pizza in Canada about 15 years ago. It was my favourite item that they had at the time.

I'm curious - Is beef unpopular in countries for reasons other than the Hindu factor?
