There are 2 main ways that companies try to scam you in regards to your domain. One tricks you into thinking one thing when you’re really doing another; and the other way tries a mild “scare tactic.”

They send you a form that they want you to sign.
You think it is to renew your domain name and it really is like a permission slip. You will be giving them permission to take your domain name off of your hands. You will give them control and not even know it. ![]() |

A company contacts you and says that a new domain is ready to for registration. The new domain will look just like the one you own, but it will have a different extension attached.
