Default Registering for more than a year

I recently read a google quote saying they prefer and give more weight to domains that are registered for 2 years and more.
I hear this is because 1 year regs might be spam.

Just something to keep in mind

Yes, because spammers always register domains for a year as they know it will probably get banned.
Its not a huge cost to register for 2 years, so just do it

Yes, plus its easier as you dont need to renew every year. Thats a good thing, one year can sneak up fast so its great only renewing every 2 years - thats one extra thing to take off the to do list

I believe this is the future of domain registration, I think in a few years we'll have thousands of domains that are held up for as many as 10-20 years at a time.

10-20 years, wow!
Thats a investment in itself, but nice to know you dont have to re-register again.
Whats the max registration time at the moment?
